Straight line Sprucemont post mark. There is no evidence of a stamp or cancel, so it was probably delivered unofficially by stage coach. There is a faint handwritten date of December 8, 1887 which would make this very early. (The post office opened on September 10, 1886.)It is addressed to W(illiam) Fillmore at Cherry Creek. Williams arrived with his brother in Cherry Creek between 1872 and 1878. He is listed in the United States census. William would move on to Placerville, but his brother would stay in Cherry Creek. The Fillmore Mine (tungsten and silver) was named for him. Very unique usage!
