Older braided 58 foot 4 strand rawhide riata with a Mexican style Swivel Honda, this riata has a great patina on it from all the years of use, looks to be early to mid 1900's and in very good condition for its age. A companion piece to this lot is a South American Gaucho set of Boleadoras, also known as Bolo Balls, these were commonly used by the South American Gaucho to catch ostriches as well as horses and even cattle, this set measures 31 inches from the top to the lowest ball and is constructed of braided and smooth rawhide, these throwing bolos contained smooth wrapped rocks and sometimes rounded lead weights were also used.
