RPPC of "Deadwood Dick" by Black Hills Studios, Inc. He's wearing a hat with a "Days of 76" band. This is Richard Clarke, frontiersman and believed to be the inspiration for the "Deadwood Dick" character of a popular series of dime novels published in the 1870s-90s. Clarke embodied the Old West: he was present at and survived the Battle of Little Big Horn; he worked for the Pony Express; he settled in Deadwood and interacted with Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and Buffalo Bill Cody; he even was a part of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Postally unused. DOPS stamp box.
