Extremely Rare Manfred Von Richthofen (Red Baron) signed cover, postmarked Hamburg, 1917, with handwritten address on the back of the envelope. Signed in dark blue ink: "Frhr v. Richthofen." Also included: 8" x 10" photo of Richthofen on photographic paper. Richthofen was known as the Red Baron because he flew a Fokker triplane that he painted entirely in red so his opponent would easily recognize him and try to shoot him down. Richthofen shot down 80 planes in aerial dogfights before he himself was shot down in a last aerial dog fight over England. The Red Baron autograph is extremely rare in any form, as he shot his first plane down in September, 1916, and died in April, 1918, and was always at the front during that time period.
