An account of the 27th plane shot down by the Red Baron. Frances King, WWI air mechanic/observer in the Royal Air Force 25th Squadron. Killed in action March 17, 1917, along with the pilot of a Vickers two-seater. Two war-dated specimens of his handwriting (unsigned), one dated Nov. 29, 1916, is a return address portion of a letter showing his address in France and the other, dated Jan. 21, 1917, (just 11 weeks before his death) has his squadron information. These extremely rare examples of his handwriting come with an ALS, "Mrs. F. King," two pages, folded in quarters, Nov. 11, Lincolnshire, England, from his mother explaining that she only had one letter with his signature (first name only) as a memento and the two above mentioned specimens are the best she can offer.
