SF.Pinholes, deep vertical and horizontal folds. 5.5 x 10" The Red Jacket adjoined the Sunrise near La Plata. In 1891, they drifted 15 feet into a regular bed of ore. Mr. West is manager. The Middle Fork Road being built between Ogden and La Plata is reported as a failure. [Ref: Financial and Mining Record, Volume 30, 1891] La Plata is now a ghost town. The rush to it began in 1891. There were 60–70 buildings in all, including two stores, saloons, a bank, and a post office, but no cemetery. By 1892, only 150 people remained (down from a peak of 1,500). Ken Prag Collection
