Two cut-glass back bar bottles from the mid-1800s labeled Red Top (white paint over raised letters) and Red Top Rye (red paint in incised letters). Approx. 10-3/4 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches in diameter. Red Top Rye was produced in Louisville, Kentucky, by Ferdinand Westheimer & Sons. It was marketed as being "built to fit the taste, and it succeeds." the company was founded in the late 1800s with Ferdinand bringing seven of his eight sons into the business by 1897 (one had died before the age of 13 by then). The company continued in business until 1919 in anticipation of Prohibition taking hold in 1920.
