Rare. "Lost Camp District, Placer County, Cal." (printed above title). Inc. June 1867. Low number 5, issued July 23rd, 1867 at Dutch Flat to Josiah Tuck for 50 shares. Signed by the company president, John Redstone, and the secretary (illegible). Not cancelled. Black border and print with a vignette of a bald eagle on a flag. Enquirer Print, Dutch Flat. 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp attached on the left side. Folds, chipped border, small stains. 5 x 10" Lost Camp was in Central Placer and Nevada counties. It was in the vicinity of the towns of Emigrant Gap and Blue Canyon. It was both a lode and placer mining area. Although no great production, there was work done here throughout the 1800's and 1900's.
