Redware Incised Jar by Judy Tafoya. Very deeply carved with dragonflies and cattails--very unusual. 3.25" x 3.25" diameter. A sixth generation potter, Judy is half Santa Clara and half Irish. Born in Los Angeles, she returned to Santa Clara at age 23 and married the boy next door. A year later, she began making pottery and is largely self-taught. She considers her sister, Native Treasures artist Sharon Naranjo Garcia, her closest mentor. “I have tried to walk in the footsteps of the matriarchs of pottery,” she says. City: Santa Clara Pueblo State: New Mexico Date: HWAC# 52115
