This is an absolutely beautiful and rare double barrel cape gun with a set of 30 in. barrels. One is a 28-32 gauge shotgun and the rifle barrel is .36 caliber. It has an absolutely beautiful shotgun bore with a choke and the rifle barrel has seven lands and grooves twist bore that is perfect. This piece has a rare single set adjustable trigger with a trigger guard pistol grip and finger piece. It has an original barrel length ramrod and also features a Kentucky rifle style straight stock. The stock is a crescent butt piece that covers both the top and bottom of the stock similar to a Schutzen and a brass batch-box on the right side. The back-action lock side-plates have panel scenes engraved of a dog and flying geese in the forest. This scene is engraved on both locks as well as scroll engraving of both hammers. The gun has German silver barrel release wedge and forend cap. This rare piece is mentioned in the "Remington Historical Treasury of American Guns' by Harold Lesley Peterson and although it is not clear that he is speaking of this particular gun he mentions the rarity of this type.
This beautiful one-of- a-kind cape gun has individual sights for each barrel plus a set of master sights for both barrels. An excellent rare percussion gun.
