Beautiful silver inlaid, heavy barrel rifle with six silver stars on each side of tiger wood maple stock and 26 silver inlays. Beautiful North Carolina gun lock marked “G Goulcher” (George Goulcher made a wide range of components for the arms market that could be used by gunsmiths unable to produce their own parts). Barrel is marked “Remington” and hand engraved “JK” on top flat of a barrel. “JK” is attributed to John Kennedy. Kennedy was a prominent gunsmith family of the “mechanics hill” area of Robbins North Carolina. The rifle has 7 lands and grooves and is 33 caliber, double set triggers with beautiful short tiger wood maple stock, cheek piece and Swiss style butt piece. Brass trigger guard and finger rest. This is an absolutely beautiful and historic piece of early Americana. 33 inch barrel, overall 48”. The American longrifle began to evolve from the European forms during the second quarter of the 18th century along the Pennsylvania frontier, in and about Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Note: Black powder antique.
