This pocket revolver is known as the Remington New Model Pocket revolver of 1863. It is a .31 caliber with a five shot cylinder that has been converted from percussion to rimfire. The gun is 8 in. overall length with a 3.5 in. barrel. The cylinder is two-piece for loading. The grips appear to be original walnut in a varnish finish that is in very good condition. The gun is factory engraved on a nickel finish. The engraving is in the style of Gustave Young (attributed to Gustave Young with donut scrolls and punch-dot no borders) however unsigned. S/N 23229 on the bottom flat of the barrel under the loading lever. In working order and in-time. Handling wear on the grips, 98 % nickel finish on metal parts. This firearm is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No FFl required. c. 1870's. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii.
