Rare Wingfield autograph. No. 606, issued for 10 shares to Marjorie Lee Barrett on Sept. 13th, 1915 in Reno, Nevada. Signed by George Wingfield as president and cashier Lee. Not cancelled. Black print and gold seal. Folds, pinholes, area of toning upper left. 8 x 10" The Reno National Bank was originally organized by George Nixon (US Senator) as the Nixon National Bank in 1906. When Nixon died in 1912, the bank’s control was sold to George Wingfield, who made his fortune in Goldfield and Tonopah. He had the name changed in 1915. The bank went into receivership on December 9, 1932 during the Great Depression. Not many bank notes that were issued by this bank have survived.
