A solid note with strong over printed signatures of A.J. Caton, cashier and Richard Kirman, president. One of seventeen $10 Plain Backs reported on this bank. Condition: Very Fine. Serial Number: 28867. The Farmers And Merchants National Bank Of Reno History: Chartered in November of 1903 with a capital of $200,000. In November of 1932, the current Governor Fred Balzar issued Bank Holiday orders and all the banks in the state were closed except The Farmers And Merchants National Bank Of Reno which remained open. The bank President, Richard Kirman, Sr. stated “if you have money in the bank and want it – come in and get it.” Thus avoiding a run on the bank. Kirman, Sr. would become Nevada Governor on January 7, 1935. On June 24, 1929 the bank changed it’s title (name) to First National Bank In Reno. Reno Nevada HWAC# 32253
