32 pages. Two important mining authors! Silliman was a professor at Yale (like his father) and Josiah D. Whitney was an expert on "economic geology", a Harvard professor and chief of the California Geological Survey (1860-74). Mount Whitney is named after him. Printed by Ezekiel Hayes, New Haven. Mine located near Bristol. The mine was a contact deposit between sandstone and metamorphic rock with workings concentrated in a 600 foot space. Nice illustrated transverse section of the mine on page 5. From 1847 to 1855, the mine yielded nearly $200,000 from 1811 tons. Ends with company charter. Tape repairs to covers. Foxing and soiling on inside pages. 9" x 6" City: Bristol State: Connecticut Date: 1855 ID# 34805
