Certificate # 2174 issued Edward Hall, June 15, 1840, for 1500. Signed by Charles Demorse. DeMorse, the Texas Stock Commissioner, was tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt under President Mirabeau B. Lamar. Co-signed by Comptroller J. Shank(?). Engraved by Endicott & Clark of New Orleans. Cut cancelled and one taped rip into the second coupon, but overall, a nice specimen. In 1836 the Texas Commissioners appointed Edward Hall to purchase and ship all supplies needed by the provincial government. Reverse has note by Edward Hall paying to the order of William Bryan. Hall and Bryan were major financial backers of the purchase of the 'Invincible' to combat Mexican ships.
