Multiple cut/spindle cancels. 10 coupons attached. 7.5 x 9.75" DeMorse, the Texas Stock Commissioner, was tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt under President Mirabeau B. Lamar. Simmons was comptroller of the Republic of Texas from 1839 to 1840. In 1840, he was appointed treasurer and served until November 1841.
