Lot of two. #1321 issued to D. Cameron for $100 and # 2327 issued to A. de Saligny. Signed by Charles Demorse. DeMorse, the Texas Stock Commissioner, was tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt under President Mirabeau B. Lamar. One co-signed by Comptroller J.W. Simmons. Engraved by Endicott & Clark of New Orleans. In 1839 de Saligny was sent from Pairs to recognize Texas in a treaty of friendship, navigation, and commerce. Republic of Texas in 1839. His report influenced the French to sign a Dubois, or "A. de Saligny," as he signed himself, returned to Texas in January 1840. He established his residence in Austin, then the capital of the republic. Signed by de Saligny on reverse (Cut cancel has partially obliterated the 'de'.)
