Certificates 2024 and 2028 issued Edward Hall, December of 1840 for $500. Signed by Charles Demorse. DeMorse, the Texas Stock Commissioner, was tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt under President Mirabeau B. Lamar. Engraved by Endicott & Clark of New Orleans. Heavily cut cancelled. In 1836 the Texas Commissioners appointed Edward Hall to purchase and ship all supplies needed by the provincial government. Reverse has note by Edward Hall paying to the order of William Bryan. Hall and Bryan were major financial backers of the purchase of the 'Invincible' to combat Mexican ships.
