Strickland & Seymour to receive $62.50. They were both part of the Roberts Company ñ the Fannin County Mounted Rangers. The company was in service from September 16, 1839 to March 16, 1849. In 1840 the Texas Congress enacted a measure of relief for the settlers from Indian raids. Roberts Company was one of those formed. The Republic of Texas inherited from the provisional and ad interim governments a debt estimated at $1.25 million. Postponement of the payment of the bulk of this debt was protracted over a period of eleven years, interest accumulating on it up to July 1, 1850.
