1) Walker for $67.50 for services in the Somervell Campaign. Walker served in the First Regiment, South Western Army under Captain Barrett from October 1, 1842 to November 10, 1842. 2) Worsham for $67.50 for services in the Somervell Campaign under Captain McGuffin from November 25 to December 19, 1842. This was also part of the South Western Army, 1st Regiment, 1st Brigade. The Somervell expedition was a punitive expedition against Mexico in retaliation for three predatory raids made by Mexican armies upon Texas in 1842. The Republic of Texas inherited from the provisional and ad interim governments a debt estimated at $1.25 million. Postponement of the payment of the bulk of this debt was protracted over a period of eleven years, interest accumulating on it up to July 1, 1850.
