Burleson was a colonel in the battle of San Antonio. Both received funds for 1842 services rendered. Houston was listed as directly under the general. He received $31.50. Haynie was an orderly Sergeant in the company of Captain Gillespie under the general. Captain James H. Gillespie had a company of (Bastrop) Volunteers and were involved in the Vasquez Campaign. The campaign took place in March of 1842, but Haynie was not yet on the rolls. He received $42.70. S. A. J. stands for Stephen Andrew Jackson. He came from Burnet County and the 1860 slave schedule lists him as having five slaves from 1 to 21 years of age.
