Algiers, Tuolumne County, California. Check No. 106 made out to H.W. Williams or bearer for $20. Printed on blue paper by Sonora Herald Print. It appears that Mr. Williams intended this document to act as a $20 scrip note since it is issued to himself or bearer and signed by him. Algiers was discovered in 1853 by a French miner and had three different names over a 10 year period. It seems to have gone out of existence by the 1870s. 3.75" x 6.75" Date: Location: Algiers, California HWAC# 50917
