Rare. $500 Reward "offered for the arrest of Domenico Bacigalupi, an Italian, who is charged with the murder of his wife by poisoning in Amador county." It goes on to describe his physical characteristics and last known whereabouts, and even had information added after printing in pen. Issued on Nov. 5, 1889 by R.J. Adams, Sheriff of Amador County. Slight discoloration. Tear in the upper left corner, but paper still there. Glue residue (?) at the center and lower down. Light soiling. Fold. Measures 5 3/4" x 9 1/4." Bacigalupi purchased a bottle of strychnine to "kill squirrels," and mentioned that his wife was "so crazy she would die soon." When she died Sept. 21, 1889, he wanted her body buried immediately. He then went on the run. (Daily Alta California, Volume 81). An article from December 25th mentioned that he was captured and being escorted back to Jackson to be put in jail (Sacramento Daily Union, December 26th, 1889). His trial finished on May 13th, and he was found guilty of first-degree murder on May 16th and sentenced to life imprisonment (Los Angeles Herald, May 17, 1890).
