Best three pieces are 1854 & 1855 Certificates of Deposit (Shasta) and an 1854 draft (Weaverville) signed by FW Blake, who was also an assayer with ingots known today to collectors. The rest of the pieces are manuscript receipts: Red Bluff, 1853; 1853 receipt Shasta; 1853 receipt Shasta; 1853 receipt for board at Empire House; 1853 receipt for hay (Shasta); 1853 receipt for saw mill at Shasta; 1853 receipt for agent's wages; 1855 receipt for meals and board (Shasta); 1854 JM Rhodes receipt; two 1853 receipts for barley (Shasta); 1853 Sacramento City Branch draft; 1853 Shasta manuscript draft; and 1853 manuscript draft to Sac. City Bank branch. Rhodes and Lusk's Express operated from 1852 to 1854 and conveyed "treasure, letters and other packages" from San Francisco in the south, to Jacksonville, Oregon Territory in the north. California offices between the northern and southern points were located in Sacramento, Colusa, Shasta City, Weaverville, and Yreka. They started their Shasta line in 1852.
