Overall frame size 44" x 38" Art size 35" x 30" Signed lower right inside an arrowhead. Dan Muller. Painted about 1935, hung about the same time. This is the only one of this collection that cannot be specifically tied to the Twon House menu, as many paintings Muller described only in a cursory manner without specifics. Tobacco stain.

This painting follows Muller's descriptions of "Ridin Line" on the last page of his menu manuscript. The cowboy on his horse having lassoed a wayward longhorn along a fence line with snow on the ground and a fierce upward struggle for the horse. "Ridin' line" was and still is a cowboy's regular job - to ride "line", or the barbed wire fence looking for wayward cattle, hence the importance of the fence in the foreground. More from Muller: "There's them rangy Texas longhorns which he has helped drive all th'way f'm Abeline ... helped fight Injuns ... helped mill them cows when they got t'stampedin'. How glad his heart was then ... how full o'hope ... what ambitions t'corral a little spread o'his ownnd send fer that gal a'hisn what promised t'wait."
