A box of 98 blue gambling chips with HM on the obverse (not WH) and 25 on the reverse. Attributed to the Ritchford Casino Hotel in Gardnerville, Nevada, where the casino owner was H. Morris. All in good condition. Also 6 transparent red dice labeled RITCHFORD on the 2-dot side in very good condition. The lot also includes a 21 mm brass token labeled / RITCHFORD / HOTEL / on the obverse and / GOOD FOR / 5c / IN TRADE / on the reverse. Both sides have been counterstamped with a G. Some features worn, but all readable. The three-story Ritchford Hotel opened in 1896 or 1898, depending on which source you choose, and boasted 20 first-class rooms. Its renown spread as far as San Francisco. William Ritchford died in 1922, and his son William, Jr. operated it until shortly after his mother died in 1924. In 1937 a fire damaged the third story, and the building was repaired with only two stories, which is as it stands today.
