Very rare; we have not sold this stock in (at least) the past 8 years of auctions. Property at Ouray, Colorado, Mining District of San Juan (printed under title). Inc. in New York. No. 170, issued for 50 shares to SW Eldridge in February 1880. Signed by president Jas. Davenport and secretary Jno. Fonda. Not cancelled. Green border and print. Three vignettes: reverse of half dollar (printed over seal), bald eagle on shield (center) and underground mine scene with ore buckets being hoisted (left side). No printer listed. Folds, pinholes. 6 x 9.5" They owned 10 claims: Riverside, EE Follett, Adelle, Cornwall, Henderson, New Jersey, Empire, Church, Fonda, Monelle, and Bosworth, on Red Mountain Creek, 4.5 miles south of Ouray, Uncompahgre district. Pay streaks 8-25 inches, assaying 25 ounces silver per ton. Developed by a 232ft. crosscut, 400 feet of drifting, a 175 ft. shaft, a five acre mill site, ore-houses, shaft-houses, bunk house, and more. [Ref: C&L, 1883, pg. 507]
