Lot of 2. One issued and one unissued. Early! Inc. in New York. No. 51, issued for 230 shares to Fisk and Lathrop on June 24th, 1864. Signed by president H.L. Pearson, Jr., and J. Taylor, secretary. Pen cancelled. Black border and print. Two different mining vignettes: hoisting scene (at left) and sluicing scene (top center). One 15 cent and one 10 cent adhesive revenue stamp attached at right. Printed Curtliss & Macy, NY. Folds. 6.25 x 10.5" Also, an unissued stock of the same design. Hollister describes a "Rochdale Gold Mining Company," which is most certainly the same as our Rockdale given that the agent for the company is S.P. Lathrop of Black Hawk (our stock is issued to a Lathrop). The company had 800 ft. on the Harsh Lode at Leavenworth Gulch with 4 shafts (50-80 ft. deep); 550 ft. on the Calhoun with one 125 ft. shaft; 600 ft. on the Wood with one 80 ft. shaft; and a frame mill on the Harsh Lode.
