Cert. #345, issued at New York in 1881. Inc. in New York. Mines at Brooksville, Maine printed above the mining vignette. It's very unusual to find a copper mining stock from Maine as this timeframe was during the Maine silver boom. The mine's first period of operation ended in 1887. There were sporadic efforts at mining until 1964, and then Callahan Mining Corporation began major open pit operations in 1968. The average ore grade was 1.30% copper, 4.91% zinc, 0.35% lead, and 0.50 ounces per ton of silver. The mine closed in 1972 and was flooded by the opening of a dam at Goose Pond (mindat.org). VF. Uncanceled.
