Gold border, black print, three vignettes : top center eagle, wings spread standing on union shield, left side miners carrying bucket, right side miners walking towards mine. Cancelled stamped 1928. Formed by Louis Rouchleau and James D Ray in early 1890ís to invest in Duluth real estate and mining properties in Mesabi Range. in 1855 Ray was one of the founders of Portland ( now East Hillside suburb of Duluth) and involved in digging the ships canal in 1871. Ray was also president of Duluths Cemetery Assoc. and located the first Forest Hill Cemetery.. It was purchased in 1895 by John D. Rockefellerís Superior Consolidated Iron Mines Company.
