# 175 for 12 1/2 shares to George Keys. Signed by B. B. Troxal and president S. M. Gilham. Dateline 1865 Austin N. T. Incorporated February 9, 1864. 25c Bond revenue stamp. Not cancelled. Vignette advertising the reason to buy this stock: "Gold $700 a ton / Silver $1000 a ton." Towne & Bacon printer. 1000 shares at $500 each. This certificate shows signs of aging, a little spotting, top edge wrinkles, etc. Still very nice. Troxel and Gilham were from Rough and Ready, California ñ hence the name. Seven assessments and no production! The Amador Mining District was the earliest in Eastern Nevada. It was located 6 miles north of Austin around New York Canyon and was later incorporated into the Reese River district. The Amador district was officially organized in November of 1863.
