C. 1890's roulette wheel from Jim Letson's Turf Club in Bisbee, AZ. Wheel is about 21" diameter with a wood outer race. Wheel is housed in a 23x23x8" folding wood case. Includes hand painted 22x16" coated fabric number board. Numbers paint is showing flaking on wheel, bearing spins but need lubrication. About 29 lbs. From the Jim & Barbara Sherman Private Western Mining Museum.

The Turf Saloon was opened by James Letson, Irish-immigrant, local businessman, Councilman and law man, in the 1890s. In 1898, cowboy Bob Sparring held up a game and made away with the $600 bank roll. Sparring was tracked down and killed by Deputy Sheriff Graham that same day. Was this wheel in the saloon during that hold up?
