There are seven individual round ball (RB) lead rounds found aboard the S.S. Central America shipwreck, all are oversized .38 caliber, indicating a muzzle-loading application for either a muzzleloading pistol or rifle but not revolver. Interestingly, there are two separate .38 caliber RB with the cloth patches; one cupping the ball the other one is loose. This means that the round was loaded but the gun has since deteriorated.
