This photograph features a large group of people posed for a photograph next to the Rubicon Springs Hotel. The people are holding a variety of different items including crochet mallets, guns and bottles. A group on men can be seen seated on the left side bay a table playing cards. It must have been a warm day when this picture was taken because many of the bottles are covered with straw to keep them cool. In 1886, Vade Phillips Clark built a 16 room hotel in Rubicon Springs. He bought the property from some miners who had been in the area bottling the spring water. The hotel closed in the mid 1920s. The photograph measures 9.35" x 7.5" and the matte measures 10.30' x 8.40." The photograph has some wear including scratches and marks. The matte has a stain on the lower left corner and a part of the upper right corner is missing. The photographer is unknown.
