No. 2268 for deposit on May 22, 1860 by C.T.H. Palmer of the Wells Fargo Office in Folsom, California. Very high grade (.925 fineness) gold bar weighing 67 ounces. Red print, Towne & Bacon. 5" x 10.75" Folds. Charles T.H. Palmer was a California Gold Rush pioneer who established many businesses (banking, assay, etc.) in the Folsom area, as well as served as Sacramento's first school teacher. Molitor previously worked with Wass as a private coin firm during the California Gold Rush. Here, Palmer (Wells Fargo) is taking in a gold bar for payment, having Molitor melt it (which is why the weight before and after melting is essentially the same), and then Molitor will pay Palmer.
