Lot of 4. 1) 1869 pictorial VC billhead for Hoole's lumber business. Issued to the Savage Mining Company. 2) 1876 Reno Western Union Telegraph Co. receipt for Hoole. 3) 1876 DA Bender & Co. RN check issued by Hoole to the Nevada State Mill. 4) Partial copy of a Bodie Morning News newspaper, No. 87, with Hoole listed as the publisher (with Elliott). Cutout portion, rips, very brittle and toned. Septimus Hoole was a lumber merchant in Gold Hill, Virginia City, and Reno, as well as a druggist in Reno and a newspaper publisher in Reno and Bodie, California. He opened his drug store, Hoole & Co., in Reno in 1876. He encountered financial problems and his store was sold to Pinniger and Queen. He created the Bodie Morning News, but that was also a failure.
