A discourse on the occasion of the wreck of the Arctic, a controversial shipwreck where crew and able bodied men overpowered women and children to win the limited lifeboats. Out of over 400 passengers, there were only 88 survivors. Discourse was delivered in a Presbyterian church in Burlington, New Jersey, 1854. Also included is a report of Dr. Hayes' arctic expedition, seemingly not connected to the shipwreck aside from location. Both pamphlets have binding in delicate condition, with pages in generally good condition aside from light toning and the occasional fold. Both pamphlets are about 5.5x8.5". See photo.
