A collection of about 85 pieces of ephemera from a trip to Europe from New York, c1935. Includes tickets, brochures, maps, menus, hotel guide, theater program, postcard c1935, Lloyd Bremen steamship passenger list and souvenir logs, and much more. Please see photo(s) for more details. SS Bremen was a German-built ocean liner constructed for the Norddeutscher Lloyd line to work the transatlantic sea route. The ship launched in 1928. A few incidents took place regarding the Bremen, including on July 26, 1935, a group of anti-Nazi demonstrators, "The Bremen Six", boarded Bremen just before she sailed and tore down a Nazi flag and tossed it into the Hudson River. Then in December 1939 Bremen was sighted and challenged by the S-class submarine HMS Salmon. Salmon's commander, Lieutenant Commander E. O. Bickford, decided not to torpedo the liner because he believed she was not a legal target. The Bremen was destroyed due to arson in 1941.
