Miners Bank of Savings of Alta-California:25 cent scrip payable in Gold Dust. Early 1850s. Printed by Gavit & Co. Albany. Steamship between two "25 cents" balloons. At each end ar panels with written: twenty five cents. 4 x 2 1/4 inches. The notes from this bank are rare. All known are less than $1. The 25 cent notes are the most common, with about 11 known, six have the appearance of having been issued. The Ford Collection had examples of the 25, 50 & 75 cent varieties. The scrip was used in 1849-1850 as a bank headed by Stephen Wright. More on this company in Rush for Gold, pp244-245. San Francisco California Franklin Collection
