Not cancelled. Collins & Sesnon printers. Green safety paper with striking underprint eagle vignette. Corner folds, pin holes, nicks at fold edges. The Sacramento Mining District was five miles from Fairplay. "The Fairplay Flume says that the Sacramento Gulch Mining Company has commenced operations upon its property in Sacramento Gulch District. This company was organized last July under the laws of New York and purchased at that time an extensive tract of valuable mineral land in the above named district. This property consists of the Clinton, Little Clyde, Vestal, Ella T Fisher and lodes The original owners of the lodes had very satisfactory results from ore taken from them before the company came into possession of the property and now that the work is to be pushed upon these claims it is reasonable to expect further favorable developments. Buildings consisting of shaft engine and boarding houses have been erected and a force of men is at work upon the shafts. The superintendent says the work is to be pushed vigorously through the winter regardless of the weather." [Engineering and Mining Journal, Volume 30, December 1880] Prag Collection
