Dateline Virginia, Nev., June 3rd, 1874. Issued to WC Madden for $85. Signed by Comstock mining millionaire (and US Senator) James G. Fair. Rare "buff" RN-D imprinted revenue, not listed in Castenholtz. Spindle cancel, some soiling. According to Ansari, the Sacramento Mill was located in Gold Canyon above Johntown and below the Excelsior Mill. It shows up on Bancroft's 1862 map. In the mid-1860s, it was processing ore from the Belcher Mine. In the 1870s, it had 12 stamps and a 25-ton capacity.
