Lot of two items related to early Sacramento and San Francisco history.
A) Framed bond certificate from the Placerville and Sacramento Valley Railroad Company. This certificate acknowledges that the Placerville and Sacramento Valley Railroad Co. was indebted to Danforth N. Barney of the City of New York for 1,000 dollars in gold coin. This bond was issued in 1864 and is signed by the president of the company, Charles E. McLane. There are also about 30 fifty dollar coupons attached to the bottom of this certificate, all signed by McLane. This certificate has a very nice vignette of a train with the Sutter Mill gold discovery site of Coloma in the Sacramento Valley. Overall, the certificate is in good condition, there is some discoloration in the top right corner. Signed by McClane and Danforth, Wells Fargo executives. Overall size of frame is 21 x 17 inches.
B) Reproduction print of View of San Francisco, formerly Yerba Buena, 1846-7, before the discovery of gold. This image shows how San Francisco would have looked prior to March 1847. It shows several merchant ships in the harbor and several small buildings and streets on the hillside. All of the ships and building are labelled with letters that correspond to their names at the bottom of the print. Overall size is 37 x 25 inches. San Francisco & Sacramento California
