Plenty of Chinese writing on the reverse which we can't read, but are sure will lead the owner of this document to some interesting history. 1882 assay for 42 ounces which certainly suggest placer mining. Worth $718 in gold and $5 in silver. The prevailing thought is that the Chinese would go into placer areas when the white placer miners left and through hard work and cooperation make a handsome sum of money. (We can attest to the cooperation and hard work. In the streams near Greenville one can still see the huge boulders that were moved by the Chinese so they could get to the gold!)
