A certificate for a $1000 school bond from the City & County of San Francisco, dated 1872. No. 83 issued. Cancelled. Signed by SF mayor William Alvord. Certificate is mounted on a piece of paper along with 20 bond coupons, each worth $35. Excellent vignette of the Lincoln Grammar School which would later be destroyed in the 1906 earthquake. Minor tearing and warping, some toning -- see photos for details of condition.
