# 73 for 100 shares ($10,000) to Charles W Tankersly. Signed by Thomas M Bowen and president Tankersly. Dateline Del Norte, 1875. Cancelled on transfer. Small Goddess of Gold vignette. J McKittrick of St. Louis printer. Owned the Little Ida mine near Summitville, 27 miles from Del Norte. In 1870 gold was discovered in the area by John Esmund, a rancher. A rich vein of gold ore was discovered in the Little Ida which assayed at $1500 to $2500 a ton. Four months later the mine had produced $250,000. Thomas Meade Brown was admitted to the bar at 18. He fought in the Civil War and became a Arkansas State Supreme Court Justice. He was governor of Idaho in 1871. He was said to be lucky in poker, which is where he won the ownership of this mine.
