Lot of 2 different. 1) Alabama San Juan Mining Company. Inc. 1872. No. 507, issued for 104 shares to Alexandra Warfield in Mobile in 1879. Signed by vice president Brown and secretary Lockwood. Not cancelled. Blue border, black print. Folds, stains from seal. 7.75 x 10" Office in Silverton. The Alabama Mine was located in the early 1870s in Poughkeepsie Gulch, 14 miles from Silverton. Assays of silver/copper ore were up to 200 oz./ton silver (Corbett). 2) Solid Gold & Silver Mining Company. "Red Mountain Mining District" (printed at top center). Inc. in Colorado. Issued for 50 shares to Samuel T. Richards in 1884. Signed by president O.D. Levis and secretary R.R. Lowry. Not cancelled. Black border and print, green background, ornate logo. Pinholes, folds. 4.75 x 9.75" Not listed in C&L, on CHNC, or newspapers.com. The Red Mountain Mining District lies between Ouray and Silverton on Highway 550 (also known as the Million Dollar Highway) in the San Juan Mountains.
