Signed by president GB Davis and secretary Milo Calkin. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Salmon colored background. Small vignette of California state seal. Printed by Robbins & Co. Folds, a few nicks around the edges. Nice. 4.75 x 9" An August 19th, 1863 Daily Alta California article notes that they have commenced to cut a tunnel 600 feet long at their mine in Santa Cruz County. A Santa Cruz Weekly Sentinel article from October 31, 1863 has secretary Milo Calkin acknowledging the lease on the property by Dr. George Parsons that was granted in 1861, noting that Parsons did not satisfy requirements of the lease to keep it. A Nov. 1st, 1866 Sacramento Daily Union article describes the property on Gold Gulch, south of the San Lorenzo River. At that point, the tunnel was 885 ft. long, but work has been suspended.
