Pass No. A197 issued for 1909 to John Ryan, general manager of the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad. Signed by R.E. Wells as general manager. Not endorsed. Printed on cardstock with toning and soiling. Ryan was an employee and close friend of the mining tycoon Francis Marion "Borax" Smith. Smith considered Ryan to be one of his most trusted friends so much in fact that Smith named the mining town of Ryan, after his dear friend.
