Addressed to Misses Bird and Dinkilspiel. The Bird and Dinkelspiel Store was constructed in 1875. It was John Bird, one of the stores proprietors, whose exploration and entrepreneurial activities along the Montezuma slough led to the settlement of the town of Bird's Landing. General stores like the Bird and Dinkelspiel Store represented an essential commercial outpost whose presence in an isolated landscape offered a sense of civility and stability to those considering relocating to more remote areas.

Why write to Birds Landing for supplies? It was about 40 miles from San Francisco! perhaps the two young ladies helped out in some other capacity.. State:California City:San Francisco Date: ID#46925
